Dear Renovation,

Dear renovation,

This has been fun, but I feel like I am in a different place than I was three months ago. You are beautiful, I can see so much potential in you, but things just aren’t working out. I feel like you have been a bit clingy, you are so demanding of my time, my friends and family haven’t seen me in months because you need so much from me. I spend all of my weekends with you, and it isn’t the stuff I want to do, it is always your stuff. I am tired of your stuff. I need to make room in my life for the things that are important to me, and you are getting in the way. Oh Reno, I will always have a place in my heart for you, but I have changed. It is me, not you who has the problem. I think we need to break up, I think it is time to end this relationship and move on. I know it is hard, we had some good times. It is best for both of us if this ends swiftly and on good terms. Let’s still be friends Reno. I still want to be friends.

The kitchen cabinets are in! It took a full week for everything to get complete with the installation. It was by far the most rewarding part of the renovation. I would come up stairs every night and stare at the cabinets. They are gorgeous. The transformation is unbelievable. I feel like I have a completely different house. I have so much storage space, there will be empty drawers.

We are on the downhill slop of the renovation. Things are going to be wrapping up soon. The tile is getting laid in the kitchen, the countertop template is complete, and will be installed next Friday! I have a date. Next Friday. Next Friday!!!!!!!

The bathrooms are almost complete. The showers are in; the glass for the custom shower will be installed next week.

I need to go get mirrors, but I am really busy, we may have to move in without mirrors or towel bars. This would have been much easier had I made a list of all of the stuff I needed to buy and gone and bought it all at once. (I have been reminded of this several times by my husband who likes to plan).

We decided to take an awkward piece of railing out of the living room. Our current living room was the original formal dining room, and it had railing for some reason protruding three feet into the space. This tiny change makes the space feel way bigger! We were going to leave it originally, but this was my one chance to get rid of it because we are tiling the floor beside it. It has turned out to be a great decision.

The bathrooms are getting wrapped up in the next few days, and the tiling should be complete next week. The shower comes in next week, and then we will just be waiting on the countertop. Once the countertop is in we can move in upstairs. The backsplash will go in after the countertop, but I can live without backsplash. Things are coming to a close. I will be done soon.
